The San Diego County/Tobacco Control Coalition invites you to hear how the California Tobacco Control Program (CTCP) funds projects to address tobacco-related health disparities in priority populations. Community based organizations will learn the

Who   What   Where   When  How

to competitively seek funding from Prop 56 ($2 tax revenue) allocated for tobacco prevention and education. The challenges and opportunities of three priority populations will be freatured (African American, LGBTQ, American Indian) which will be depicted as examples that can be applied to other populations.

 CTCP Priority Populations:

  • African Americans, other people of African descent, American Indian and Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders, some Asian American men and Latinos
  • People of low socioeconomic status, including homeless
  • People with limited education, including high school non-completers
  • Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people
  • Rural residents
  • Current members of the military, veterans
  • Individuals employed in jobs or occupations not covered by smoke-free workplace laws
  • People with substance use disorders or behavioral health issues
  • People with disabilities
  • Formerly incarcerated individuals

 

Announcement: Funding Opportunity Alert - Request For Application, CTCP 17-10569 Regional Initiative To Reduce Tobacco-Related Disparities

The Funding Opportunity Alert for Request for Application (RFA) #17-10569, “Regional Initiative to Reduce Tobacco-Related Disparities Among African American/Black; Asian/Pacific Islander; Hispanic/Latino; and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer Populations” will be released the week of 9/11/17. This RFA intends to fund up to 27 projects to reduce tobacco-related health disparities and achieve health equity among priority populations through regional approaches directed towards policy and systems change focused on tobacco use prevention and reduction. CTCP will also fund up to four grantees to serve as statewide coordinating centers to foster collaboration and community engagement among the funded regional priority population projects to accelerate the adoption, implementation, and impact of their policy and system change campaigns.
