Your Instructor:

During his 25-year police career, John Tedeschini conducted thousands of interviews with victims, witnesses and suspects. John's wide-ranging investigative experience included assignments with Homicide Section, Polygraph Unit, Internal Affairs, and the Interview Support Team, a specialized unit responsible for conducting, overseeing, and consulting on complex major crime interviews.

John was one of the first practitioners in Canada to advocate for a move away from the “traditional” police interviewing approach to one grounded in psychological science. Recognizing the need to merge academic research with real-world practice, John developed, delivered, and facilitated groundbreaking investigative interviewing training programs for municipal police services in Alberta. He has extensive experience in training police officers and also conducts private training sessions with a wide range of private and public-sector clients. His commitment to an evidence-based, ethical, and practical approach remains reflected in the present-day training he provides his clients.

John's expertise and passion for investigative interviewing is further demonstrated in his authored and co-authored articles in the Canadian Journal of Criminology and Criminal Justice, Journal of Applied Research in Memory and Cognition, and Investigative Interviewing: Research and Practice. His work has been cited in academic journals and texts, and he has also been an invited speaker at national and international conferences hosted by judges, lawyers, and academic institutions.
