This 8-week class builds scene skills, group performance skills, and explores forms beyond the montage.

About this class:

Students will continue their growth from Fundamentals of Improv Level 2 to begin developing their own performance style and begin learning other forms beyond the Montage. By exploring a wide variety of improv skills, including game, character, walk-ons, tag-outs, openings, and callbacks, students will build a personal toolbox for their improv journey.

Each class session will run from 7:00pm-9:00pm ET, with optional time available after class to discuss and debrief.

  • Week 2 (January 20): Let's Get Game
  • Week 3 (January 27): Let's Get Game (Part II)
  • Week 4 (February 3): From Initiation to Scene to Callback
  • Week 5 (February 10): All Together Now
  • Week 6 (February 17): Finding a Form
  • Week 7 (February 24): Finding a Form (Part II)
  • Week 8 (March 3): Showcase Practice and Prep
  • Week 9 (March 10): Student Showcase!

This class is in-person, but Highwire Improv also offers online classes - check out our page for other offerings!

Prerequisites: Highwire Improv's Fundamentals of Improv Level 2, or equivalent training at another theater (email us at highwireimprov@gmail.com if you have placement questions)!

About your instructor:

Brian Shea (he/him) discovered improv in 2015 and has gone full speed ahead ever since. A co-founder of Highwire Improv, he performs regularly in the Baltimore area with Important Screws and Whatever This Is and other special projects. He performs on Lancaster Improv Players teams Peach Soda and Project: Harold as well as coaching and teaching there. He has never met a tag run he didn’t love and knows way too many random facts about R.E.M.
