Fundamentals of Horsemanship for Middle Aged and Seniors

Are you looking for a refreshes of the fundamentals of horsemanship or groundwork? Are you a beginner who has no horse experience? Did you used to own horses or ride but haven’t for years and would like to get back into it? Do you want to learn a style of horsemanship that works with keeping the horse in mind and analyzes how they feel and what they want? Want to learn how to interact and communicate with horses or do so again without purchasing your own? Whether you would like a review or to build your foundation, this 3 part series is for you!

This is a 3 part series that will be completely on the ground where we will be covering the fundamentals of horsemanship. This includes grooming, leading, stopping, backing, the 6 skills needed to be established on the ground before mounting, stretches, and more if time permits! Each session will build off of the previous session in order to cover all of the material safely and to build a relationship and partnership with the horses. We will be working with the horses at Solid Ground.

This series will take place on three Saturdays in February 2019. These Saturdays will be February 2nd, 9th, and 16th, from 10:00am to 1:00pm at Solid Ground (10 Elizabeth Lane) in Scarborough, Maine. In case of a bad storm and a session has to be canceled, there be a rain/snow date on Saturday, February 23rd from 10:00am to 1:00pm. Each of the 3 sessions will be 3 hours long and include snacks and water.
