With shifting enforcement priorities, the FTC aggressively targeted national advertising in 2014. The FTC’s actions provide important guidance for marketers about how to ensure that their advertising is truthful and not misleading and about what types of practices the FTC will be most concerned about in the coming year. Listen as one of the country’s leading advertising law experts provides a rundown on the FTC’s key enforcement actions related to advertising practices during 2014. Topics include:

  • FTC’s focus on national advertising
  • Advertising claims and substantiation
  • Demonstrations and endorsements
  • Making disclosures “clear and conspicuous”
  • FTC sweeps, including “Operation Full Disclosure,” “Operation Steer Clear,” and “Operation Gut Check”
  • Advertising of emerging technologies
  • Mobile advertising
  • Green, health, weight loss, and “made in the USA” claims
  • Making “Biodegradable,” “non-toxic,” and other environmental benefit claims
