About this event
The Federal real estate portfolio supports a range of mission functions and activities that present significant security challenges. Some facilities are open to the public while others are closed and secured. The range of buildings includes general-use office buildings and special-use facilities including courthouses, laboratories, and structures that may house critical equipment, systems, networks, and functions. Security measures affect not only the daily operations of the Federal government but also play a large role in determining how well Federal facilities act as good neighbors.
The January program will focus on Federal Buildings Security and the challenges in protecting Federal employees and the general public. The panel discussion will explore the evolving threat landscape and how the Federal government is strengthening and fortifying building security profiles. The session also will examine the issue of buildings security in GSA leasing process and identify opportunities for process improvement.
Panelists will include:
- Tom Chaleki, Chief Readiness and Support Officer, Department of Homeland Security
- Jeff Levine, Director of the Investigations Division for the Federal Protective Service
- Jeff Keenan, Chief, Headquarters Security and Identification Unit, Drug Enforcement Agency
- Peggy Van Eepoel, Managing Principal, Thornton Tomasetti
The session will be moderated by Norman Dong, Managing Director, FD Stonewater.
The in-person lunch program will take place on Tuesday January 24 at the Offices of Holland and Knight, 800 17th Street NW, Washington DC. Check-in begins at 11:30 and the panel discussion will take place from 12:00 – 1:30 pm.
