A roundtable discussion with former investment bankers who made the leap into the world of startups

Investment bankers are becoming a driving force behind many of today's successful startups. If you're tired of building excel models, editing powerpoints and running "scenarios" then join four reformed investment bankers as they discuss their journey from Wall Street to Silicon Alley and learn how you too can make the leap.



Roundtable participants:

Danielle Weinblatt, Take the Interview

Danielle is the CEO and Founder of Take the Interview, Inc.  Danielle founded the company when she was at Harvard Business School, where she was an Arthur Rock Fellow of Entrepreneurship. Prior to HBS, Danielle was a Private Equity Associate at Catterton Partners, a middle-market private equity firm. Danielle began her career in Mergers & Acquisitions at Citigroup, primarily focused on Energy and Industrials.  She received a B.S., summa cum laude, in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University, with a concentration in Business. 

David Sinsky, ZenCap

David is the Founder of ZenCap, a financial data startup.  Previously he was a product manager and software developer at Yipit. Prior to joining Yipit, David worked at Mill Road Capital and Lazard.  He received a B.A. in Economics from Stanford University. 

Eric Satler, Viggle
Eric is Senior Director of Business Development at Viggle, a mobile app that is building the first loyalty program for entertainment.  Prior to joining Viggle, Eric was in the Technology, Media and Telecommunications Investment Banking group at UBS where he worked on M&A and capital raising for wireless, cable, film and digital media companies.  Earlier in his career, Eric was a management consultant at Oliver Wyman.  Eric received an MBA from the University of Michigan and a B.S. in Engineering Psychology from Tufts University.

Will Nathan, Homepolish
Will is the Co-Founder of Homepolish.com, an interior design startup bringing top decorating talent into homes and offices throughout NYC.  He began his career in finance within Wachovia's Investment Banking Division in Charlotte, then lateraled to Union Square Advisors in San Francisco where he closed $1BN of new media and software M&A as an A2A promote and staffer. After discovering a passion for coding, Will switched gears and joined BuzzFeed where his work as a software developer was featured in Mashable, AdAge, and Digiday.  Will received a B.S. in Mathematical Economics from Wake Forest University.

Moderator: Sameer Syed, Genesis Media
Sameer is Director of Business Development at Genesis Media, an AdTech startup changing the way publishers monetize content.  Prior to joining Genesis Media, Sameer was as an investment banking analyst at JPMorgan for three years and also spent a year in JPM's internal consulting program. Sameer is the co-founder of “Wall Street to Silicon Alley” quarterly roundtable. He received a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan.
