A roundtable discussion with former investment bankers and finance professionals who made the leap into the world of startups

Investment bankers are becoming a driving force behind many of today's successful startups. If you're tired of building excel models, editing powerpoints and running "scenarios" then join reformed investment bankers as they discuss their journey from Wall Street to Silicon Alley and learn how you too can make the leap. #WStoSA

 



**Attendance is capped to create an intimate roundtable.  No walk-ins will be accommodated.




 

Roundtable Participants:

Alex Hardy, Liveoak -

Alex is the Chief Operating Officer at Liveoak, a secure video conferencing tool for financial services. After receiving a JD/MBA from Vanderbilt in 2013, Alex spent ~2 years in investment banking at Credit Suisse before leaving with no job lined up. After several months of funemployement and networking, he joined Techstars, an early-stage startup incubator. He then parlayed his time at Techstars into joining Liveoak as their first employee.  Alex holds a BA from Duke University. @canthardywait

 



Irene Ryabaya, Monarq -

Irene is an accidental feminist and the co-founder of Monarq – the funding focused incubator for gender diverse teams.  Before moving to the startup space, Irene was a trader at Hess Energy Trading Company.  She started her career at Goldman Sachs where she coded risk systems for the commodities desk.  Irene received a degree in Computer Science from NYU. @IreneRyab

 

 
Josh Whitcraft, Addepar - 

Josh is Sr. Director and Head of Client Solutions at Addepar, a modern technology solution for the investment management industry. Josh and his team are responsible for the successful deployment of family offices, registered investment advisors, and private banks onto the Addepar platform. Prior to Addepar, Josh earned MBA and MA degrees at Columbia University. He started his career within Goldman Sachs' Private Wealth Management division in Chicago following his BA from Northwestern University.

 


Moderator: Sameer Syed, Google

Sameer works in Strategic Partnerships at Google, where he is responsible for building, managing, and growing partnerships with Google's strategic digital media partners. Previously, Sameer worked in business development roles at Tremor Video and at ad tech startup, Genesis Media.  He began his career as an investment banking analyst at J.P. Morgan. Sameer is the organizer and founder of Wall Street to Silicon Alley.  He received a BA in Economics from the University of Michigan. @mrsameersyed
