From Wall Street to Building an Investment Bank and Businesses in Africa
Fri, 18 November 2016, 5:00 PM – 6:30 PM EST
The Rotman African and Caribbean Business Association (RACBC) Invites you to join us for a conversation with Charles Field-Marsham, Founder and President of Kestrel Capital Management and one of Canada's most distinguished entrepreneurial businessmen and philanthropists. Charles will speak about his 20 years of international business and investment experience.
Charles began his career in investment banking in New York, then went on to found an investment bank in Kenya. Today, Charles owns companies that employ approximately 1,000 people with offices in Canada, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania and Dubai.
This event is part of "Conversations on Africa @Rotman”, a speaker series initiated by the RACBC to build greater awareness and understanding about business and investment opportunities on the economically emerging continent of Africa. Over the past decade Africa’s economy has grown at more than 5% annually. During this period, six of the world’s ten fastest-growing economies were African with the continent outpacing East Asia on growth.
Despite recent global economic downturns Africa’s long-term economic prospects still look promising characterised by rapid digitisation, urbanisation, and growth in the working-age population, which will outnumber the labor force of China and India by 2034.
