Description

From the Stage to the Classroom: ELA Curricular Connections using Theatre

Presented by: Imagination Stage

Facilitated by: Joanne Lamparter and Jeff Sachs

Learn how to bring literature to life through new creative drama techniques! Especially relevant to teachers attending Imagination Stage’s Escape from Peligro Island at THEARC, teachers will have an opportunity to delve deeper into themes of the show and also the ways in which one can use arts integration techniques to bring out their student's creativity while connecting to the Grade 4, My Story curriculum. Learn the new creative drama strategies to enliven your classroom while working with text, meet new colleagues, and learn from Imagination Stage teaching artists. All participants will receive written instructions to the activities we explore and the Theatre Arts Integration Guide. This event is co-sponsored by DC Public Schools. All teachers who sign up and attend will receive a PLU as well as tickets for their family (up to four tickets) to attend an opening night of an Imagination Stage Show (Zomo the Rabbit: a Hip Hop Creation Myth). While we will draw grade 4 connections, this workshop is open to any DCPS or DC Public Charter Elementary School teacher.
