From the Porch of Gwendolyn Brooks

Poetry Writing Workshop for Middle School and High School Students with Patricia Frazier, National Youth Poet Laureate

The Chicago Literary Hall of Fame (CLHOF) invites high school and middle school students to attend poetry workshops hosted by Little Black Pearl this Spring. This workshop will be taught by the amazing Patricia Frazier, National Youth Poet Laureate!

Inspired by the life and work of Gwendolyn Brooks, the workshops will be a unique opportunity for students to express themselves through poetry. Here students will have the opportunity to:

Compose their own poems;

Read their poems to an audience in Gwendolyn Brooks Park;

See their work published by the CLHOF!

Be sure to register today!

See you on May 25th 10:00 AM - Noon for this free workshop.

Workshops sponsored by the Chicago Literary Hall of Fame, Little Black Pearl, and the Chicago Community Trust.

This is a not to be missed opportunity to learn, write, and get published!

Poetry created in the workshops will be published on the CLHOF website, and in a printed anthology made available through Little Black Pearl.

ALSO! On Saturday, June 1, 2:00pm – 4:00pm all students, parents, teachers and friends will be invited to view Rana Segal’s documentary “Making the Gwendolyn Brooks Monument” at the Carver 47 Coffee Shop. Poetry readings will follow in Brooks Park, 46th and Greenwood. Please mark your calendar and join us!
