About this event

Join us on Friday, February 3rd at the UF/IFAS Extension Office in Green Cove Springs, Florida for this event designed to get you started in your garden. Speaking topics include tips for gardening in Florida, reptiles in the garden, grasses and groundcovers, citrus, vegetable gardening, soil and more.

Pre-registration is required through Eventbrite, no tickets will be sold on-site the day of the event. Refreshments will be provided but please bring a lunch with you, our location is not near any dining establishments.

Doors open at 8:30 am and the agenda is as follows:

8:30-9:00am- Registration and Meet and Greet

9:00-9:45am- Welcome and Grounds Tour

10:00-10:45am- "Tips for Florida Gardeners"- Jeremy Rhoden, UF/IFAS Extension Marion County

11:00-11:45am- "Reptiles in the Landscape"- Wayne Hobbs, UF/IFAS Extension Clay County

11:45-12:15- Lunch (Bring Your Own)

12:15-1:00pm- Workshop #1 (Houseplants, Spring Vegetable Gardening, or Citrus)

1:15-2:00pm- Workshop #2 (Bromeliads, Building Your Soil, or Adaptive Gardening)

2:15-3:00pm- "Florida-Friendly Grasses and Groundcovers"- Wendy Wilber, UF/IFAS Extension Statewide Master Gardener Volunteer Coordinator

3:00-3:30pm-Evaluations and Wrap-up
