Join us for a discussion with Morristown pediatric psychiatrist Anna vanderSchraaf, MD about children’s mental health disorders, the battle to erase the stigma of mental illness and eliminating the barriers associated with accessing much needed treatment and other services. This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided. Registration is suggested. For more information or to register, please call 973-940-3194, Ext. 19. The evening’s discussion will include:

  • An overview of children’s mental health conditions and medications
  • Challenging stigma
  • Mental illness as a treatable condition
  • Educating families and legislators
  • Parity in mental health services/access to treatment

Dr. vanderSchraaf is Board Certified in general and pediatric psychiatry and has been in private practice since 1973. She received her training in general psychiatry at the Lyons VA Hospital in New Jersey and completed specialty training as a child and adolescent psychiatrist at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, where she is currently a clinical instructor, supervising child fellows in their clinical work. Dr. vanderSchraaf advocates tirelessly to erase the stigma associated with mental illness, increase the awareness of mental health disorders as treatable conditions, and emphasize the importance of increased access to needed mental health services in attaining higher rates of recovery from mental illness.
