Event description

Description

3 LCAT CE Contact Hours

From Queen to Madonna to Sia, the music that shapes our teenage years is diverse and powerful, helping to maintain a connection both to our inner selves and the world around us. This workshop will deeply explore music listening as a creative, mindfulness-based technique, both for therapeutic use with teenagers (and related populations) and as a tool for listening to and processing clients in an embodied manner. Participants will be given ample opportunities to engage in mindfulness-based music listening experiences that encourage creativity, inner awareness, and connection with others. LCATs of all modalities are welcome.

  1. Participants will learn to identify three roles that music can play in the social and emotional development of teenagers.
  2. Participants will engage in three different experiences of mindful music listening, incorporating various mindfulness and creative techniques.
  3. Participants will identify at least 2 roles and meanings that songs may hold for clients and for themselves.
  4. Participants will name 2 ways they can incorporate music listening or mindfulness into their clinical work.
