From Parent to Pro: A Beginner’s Guide to Learning Sports Photography - LIVE

Do you love photographing athletes? Do you want your images to look more like those found in magazines? Do you want to take better pictures of your children on the field? Join sports photographer Aaron Libed as he breaks down capturing sports and teaches photographers basic and more advanced techniques to make better images from athletic events. This workshop is for beginner and enthusiast sports photographers who already have a good understanding of their camera and the exposure triangle. We will be discussing the exposure triangle and its relationship to sports photography. This course is not intended to go in-depth on camera and image basics. Attendees should have a working understanding of these things before signing up for the workshop.

Aaron will be going over:

  • What is considered sports photography
  • Equipment used in sports photography:
  • - What to look for in cameras
  • - Types of lenses used
  • - Breaking down different setups based on budget
  • Camera settings-moving away from auto settings to manual
  • Effect and relationship of the Exposure Triangle for sports
  • Tips on getting better sports images
  • - At the venue
  • - At the computer
  • Tips on how to shoot different sports
  • - Big field sports
  • - Court sports
  • - Indoor sports
  • Editing walkthrough of selected images

The goal of the workshop is to further the passion you have for shooting sports by giving you more tools to make better sports images. We will also have a question-and-answer session after the presentation.

About your instructor: Aaron Libed is a Commercial and Sports Photographer in the Seattle area. A former professional soccer player and recently retired from a 30-year coaching career, Aaron’s passion for capturing athletes at their best moments has come through his experiences as an artist and an athlete himself.

Originally from Hawai’i, he has been shooting sports for over 10 years and has photographed organizations such as: Capelli Sports, The Seattle Sounders, The OL Reign, The West Coast Conference, The Western Athletic Conference, Seattle University, The University of Washington, Santa Clara University, and various sports organizations all over the country. Aaron started out as many sports photographers do: wanting to capture his children on the field as they grew up.
