From Novice to Novelist: Writing Workshop With CNN Journalist John DeDakis
Sat, April 22, 2017, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM EDT
Emmy award-winning journalist and author John DeDakis will conduct a day-long writing workshop, "From Novice to Novelist," at Gallery-in-the-Field in Brandon, VT. Hosted by artist Fran Bull and architect Robert Black, this workshop will be held in the art studio - with breakfast and lunch catered by Chef Robert Barral of Cafe Provence.
This workshop is a step-by-step guide that deconstructs and demystifies the novel-writing process. You'll learn how to stay organized, how to write in the voice of the opposite sex, how to rewrite, how to get an agent, and how to face your writing/marketing fears. By the end of the workshop, you will be equipped with the skills to start and perfect your story. The session on rewriting will include time for a writing lab.
It's a great opportunity to connect with other writers and learn from an accomplished novelist and writing coach.
About the instructor: John DeDakis is a former Senior Copy Editor on CNN's "The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer" and the author of four mystery-suspense novels featuring a strong female protagonist. During John’s nearly 45-year, award-winning career in journalism (25 years at CNN), he has been a White House Correspondent and interviewed such luminaries as Alfred Hitchcock, Jimmy Carter, and Ronald Reagan.
