Event description

Description

Let’s explore how having the right working environment can lead to innovation, and then deep dive into how an entire robotics department was spawned because someone had the idea that, ‘you know what, I think we need a robot’.

What will this event be about?

Talk 1:
Culture and Technology, how it influences the way we work” - Kalki Rose

In the Stack Overflow 2018 Developers survey, culture, technologies, and professional development were leading factors when developers are looking for new employment. Let’s take a look at what happens when you have a working culture that openly encourages trust, openness, personal responsibility and innovation. (Hint: it leads to the creation of awesome robots)

Talk 2:

Robots with a purpose - how social robots with human-centred design create value” - Monica Rafaila

When someone thinks of therapy, robots usually rarely cross their mind, until our developers went on a mission to redefine how robots interact with us. Our very own data scientist Monica well take us on a journey of the social Robot that was put to the test and communicated in sign language to reach out to autistic children and supported them with their speech therapy. Join us to hear more about what it took to get to their first meeting and how the children reacted to meeting this new friend. Let’s explore how this can redefine our relationship with robots and bring the possibilities of what it can do for our healthcare, communication and society to a new level.
