Event description
Join us on Mondays in June at 1:00pm for a series of wellness workshops for LGBTQ+ older adults!

About this event

Over the last year, many of us have struggled to maintain healthy habits as we have shifted our lives to socially isolate. As we transition into new times, it's important to create new habits and take the time to care for ourselves. We hope that these workshops will inspire you to take initiative of your health by implementing small changes that can have a big impact. Each workshop will feature expert speakers, short activities, opportunities to meet new people and ask questions.

These events are free to any LGBTQ+ identifying adult. You are welcome to register for one event, or as many as you are able to attend.

Schedule

June 14: Resources for Aging Well. In this workshop, we'll be guided through resources for aging well. Accessing care for ourselves and our loved ones can feel like walking through a maze of different agencies and options. We'll learn the basics of elder services in Boston, learn from home care providers, and go over the basics of financial and legal planning for aging adults.

June 21: Eating the Rainbow: Using Intuitive Eating as a Skill. According to polls, nearly 60% of Americans experienced undesired weight change during the pandemic. Improving our relationship to food will help us to feel less anxiety about our food choices. Learn the basics of intuitive eating and gentle nutrition to eat better at every meal.

June 25 *UPDATED*: Get Moving! Incorporating Exercise into Our Daily Lives. We all know that exercise is good for us, but it can be challenging to find an activity that we are motivated to do everyday. In this workshop, we'll discuss simple and fun ways to get moving.

June 28: Emotional Wellbeing and Mindfulness. It can be difficult to measure our mental health, but it's just as important as the physical. We'll discuss the emotional and spiritual practices that can bring us ease and inspiration each day; additionally, we'll complete a mindfulness activity together.
