About the organizer
Founded in 1994, Friends of Jupiter Beach is a 501 (c)(3) community organization whose goal is to support and maintain environmentally healthy, clean, and dog-friendly beaches in Jupiter, Florida through volunteerism, advocacy and education. Volunteers from every facet of the community clean a 2.5-mile span of beach from north of the Juno Beach Pier to Carlin Park in Jupiter each month.
Since the group began weighing the trash in 2006, we’ve collected more than 75,000 pounds of trash and recyclables from the beach. FJB sends out monthly E- newsletters and uses electronic and social media to spread its environmental message and advocate for a dog-friendly beach. In addition, FJB provides, free to the public, 400,000 dog bags a year along Jupiter Beach’s 29 beach crossovers and it’s Riverwalk and maintains the boxes in which they are contained. FJB participates in community events and performs outreach to local schools and youth organizations to ensure that the younger generation learns the importance of environmental preservation. We have a Young Friends of Jupiter Beach group, which holds additional monthly beach cleanups.
