Description

The Chili Cook-Off is family-friendly and open to the public!

Join Friends of Firefighters for their 2nd Annual Firehouse Chili Cook-Off on Friday, May 17th at The Hamilton in Red Hook, Brooklyn. Sponsored by Dentons Law Firm, Gary Sinise Foundation, The Mandell Family, and Pig Island NYC, with help from TD Charitable Foundation, this best of the boroughs competition will feature 12 firehouses from around the five boroughs as they toss in their ladles to impress guests and celebrity judges with their best original chili recipe.

The event will be emceed by WABC-TV Meteorologist Amy Freeze and FDNY Ladder 4 Firefighter and MasterChef Finalist Chef Eric Howard. Chili recipes will be judged by a panel of judges including Heritage Radio Network's "Life's a Banquet" podcast hosts Bretton Scott and Zahra Tangorra, Gotham Burger Social Club member Michael Puma, and FDNY Engine 286 Firefighter and MasterChef Latino finalist Chef Angel Robles.

A crowd favorite will be judged by guests via a ticket placed in a container at each chili station. In addition to bragging rights, both winners ("Crowd Favorite" and "Judges' Favorite") will receive a trophy.

Enjoy live music by FDNY rock trio One-Eyed Jack's, themed raffle gift baskets, 50/50 raffle, and a unique opportunity to bid on a private dinner party with FDNY firefighters catered by Louisiana Firefighter and Cavan Executive Chef Nathan Richard at Friends of Firefighters' historic Red Hook firehouse.
