Event Details

Please join us for a fascinating evening learning about Papua New Guinea,                                                 below and above the sea as we gather to raise funds for

Friends of the International Center Scholarship Program

at Friends Ethnic Dinner

Saturday, November 16, 2019, 6:30 pm                                                                                                                 in the Great Hall (I-House at UCSD)

While the details of the evening are being finalized we are confident that you are in store for a memorable evening that will introduce you to one of the more remote destinations in the world: Papua New Guinea or PNG, as it is commonly called. You can anticipate an informative and entertaining post-dinner illustrated presentation by our very own evoluntionary biologist Professor Christopher Wills.

Please note the menu is under development and will offer a pescatarian and/or vegetarian option

AFTER DINNER PRESENTATION

After dinner, guests will be treated to an illustrated talk entitled "Exploring PNG" by the always-entertaining Evolutionary Biologist, UC San Diego Professor, Chris Wills who has visited the island numerous times.

RESERVATIONS REQUIRED and are DUE BY Wednesday, November 6th. Please note any seating requests on your reservation order!

If you wish to volunteer, please contact Liz Fong Wills at icfriends@ucsd.edu

FAQs

Where is the International House's Great Hall?

The Great Hall is the "upper floor" in the International House - the building with the large glass windows just east of the Pangea parking structure across North Scholars Drive and flanked by Thurgood Marshall and International Lanes.

Is there a vegetarian or other special meal option?

This dinner has a vegetarian and pescatarian meal option; however we do not have a gluten free option and regret any inconvenience this may cause.

How do I request seating with my friend(s)?

Please email any seating requests to icfriends@ucsd.edu, providing full name(s) in your party as well as the name(s) of those you wish to sit with. We will do our best to accommodate your request though thank you in advance for your understanding if we are unable to honor your request.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

Everyone over the age of 18 is welcome to attend. You must have an ID showing you are over 21 to be served an alcoholic beverage. We regret that this event is not suitable for children.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

The closest parking lot is the Pangea Parking Structure (off of Pangea Drive) - there are handicap parking spaces.

Please be aware that UCSD has changed its weekend parking policies and offers one hour of free parking and thereafter parking at $1.50/hour for hours 2-5. Please refer to the University's website re: parking for further information.

Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?

Please email Liz Fong Wills at icfriends@ucsd.edu

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

If you are unable to attend the event, your registration/ticket is transferrable, although we ask that if you give your ticket to another, that they be entitlted to the same pricing option as you, and that you also send us an email notifying us of the change at icfriends@ucsd.edu.

Is my registration/ticket refundable?

We regret that we are unable to offer refunds since we are required to guarantee a guest count and further ask for your consideration that this is a fundraising event to support international acadmic scholarships.
