An opportunity to learn about fine art lithography from the world-renowned Institute credited with reviving the medium during the 1960s.

About this event

Tamarind once again is offering Friday Tours, giving the public a unique opportunity to learn about fine art lithography from the world-renowned Institute credited with reviving the medium during the 1960s. Tours include information about current programs and the history of Tamarind, a video on the collaborative process, a printing demonstration, and a walk-through of the facility. Tours are offered on Friday, September 10 – 1:30 – 3:00 pm; Friday, October 1 – 3:30 – 5:00 pm; and Friday, November 5 – 3:30 – 5:00 pm.

Currently in the gallery are new releases by Finnish artist Inka Bell and Frederick Hammersley Artist Residency recipient Ellen Lesperance, along with editions by Noel Anderson, Judy Chicago, Mark Dion, Harold Mendez, Aaron Noble, and Danielle Orchard. Later this fall Tamarind will be presenting new editions by New Mexico artists Eric Garcia, Gabby Hernandez, Szu-Han Ho, Jane Lackey, and Zahra Marwan, who took part in the Tipping Points project, presented in partnership with Albuquerque Public Art Urban Enhancement, a division of the City of Albuquerque's Department of Arts and Culture.

Tamarind Institute, a division of the College of Fine Arts at The University of New Mexico, is a nonprofit center for fine art lithography that trains master printers and houses a professional collaborative studio for artists. Founded in 1960 in Los Angeles, Tamarind is recognized internationally for its contributions to the growth of contemporary printmaking around the world and continues to provide professional training and creative opportunities for artists.
