Event description

Description

Washington DC's monuments and memorials on the National Mall are spectacular in the evening, and even more so during a full moon. Since the July 27 full moon falls on a Friday it's the perfect time for an evening walk with familiar and new friends from our “Washington, DC History & Culture” group.

Our walk will start and end at the National World War II Memorial and cover approximately 3 miles past Washington DC's most famous monuments and memorials.

Meet New People: We’ll have a good-sized group and it’s hard to remember people’s names. Therefore, we’ll bring blank name tags and pens and each person can write their name and their “dream” vacation - example: “Michele - Hawaii” & “Robert - Japan.” During our walk we can then discuss our past and future travels.

Schedule:
Meeting Time/Socializing = 6:45-7:00 pm
Departure = 7:00 pm (sharp)
Moonrise = 8:26 pm
Sunset = 8:37 pm
Ending Time = 9:30 pm (approximate)

Itinerary:
National World War II Memorial (starting point)
The Tidal Basin
Jefferson Memorial (10-minute photo/restroom break)
Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial (10-minute photo/restroom break)
Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial
Korean War Veterans Memorial
Lincoln Memorial (10-minute photo/restroom break)
Vietnam Veterans Memorial
National World War II Memorial (ending point)
