Event description

Description

Linocut Printmaking

In this beginning workshop, you will learn how to design, carve, and print a traditional linoleum block. The instructor will guide you through the process of transferring your idea, carving with multiple blades, as well as printing your final carved design onto paper. You will leave with the skills to print more designs at home or in your studio.

Linocut is a relief form of printmaking similar to woodcut. An image is created by carving into a sheet of linoleum with various blades. The surface of the carved block is then inked with a roller and impressed onto paper by hand burnishing. Artists like Pablo Picasso and Henri Matisse used this process in their own creative work.
