Event description

Description

Did you know there are 12 types of mussels that live in the Connecticut River basin? And that some of them are endangered?

University of Massachusetts researcher Ayla Skorupa will teach us about freshwater mussels and the work CRC, UMass, citizen scientist volunteers, and partners have been doing to restore the endangered brook floater mussel. A tour of the facility will follow the presentations.

Many thanks to the Massachusetts Environmental Trust for funding this work through their environmental license plates. When you buy one of these plates for your vehicle, you help fund this work too! Makes a great gift for the outdoor lover in your life.
