About this event

We are happy to celebrate the opening of the Fresh Oils Yarn Garden, an outdoor backyard space for community conversations, art-making and building relationships - old and new - in Harlem! Enter through the West 119th Street gate, welcomed by a community yarn installation organized by local artist Naomi Lawrence and the Walls-Ortiz Gallery team. The fruits of months of community members' crocheting at home this spring and summer will be on display, installed on the gate of the entryway and garden area. And it's a growing installation, with room to continue to grow and flower as we host conversations and art-making this fall (following social distancing and mask wearing guidelines)!

Join us in person by registering ahead of time (limited capacity based on space; only 10 people will be allowed in the garden at a time), or by Zoom to celebrate this glimmer of hope in the midst of coronavirus times! Attendees are invited to help us fill our planters with flowers, and enjoy some light refreshments. Email for Zoom details.
