#FreeTheTruth - Spying on Julian Assange, his lawyers and visitors
Event Information
About this event
Join journalists Max Blumenthal and Stefania Maurizi, former chair of the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention Prof Mads Andenæs and former Ecuadorean consul Fidel Narvaez to discuss details of the most egregious breaches of due process and of Julian Assange's human rights when security firm UC global spied on Julian within the embassy where he had sought refuge from US persecution.
Notes
Despite having a chronic lung condition and contrary to medical advice given the dangers posed by Covid19, Julian continues to be denied bail and remains in Belmarsh prison where he is in his cell over 23 hours a day and not receiving the medical care he needs.
His extradition trial continues on Sep 7 2020. If convicted, Julian will be extradited to the US and face a potential for 175 years in the horrific conditions of a US supermax prison under special administrative measures
