Event Information
Description
You are cordially invited to join Freenome in welcoming our Distinguished Scientist in Residence, Professor Barbara Engelhardt of Princeton University, in a fireside chat conversation with our special guest Dr. Brendan Bulik-Sullivan, a scientist and life sciences investments partner at Google Ventures (GV). The discussion will focus on the challenges and opportunities of applying machine learning and statistical methods to the emerging volumes of biological data.
Prior to GV, Dr. Bulik-Sullivan’s career focused on applied statistics and machine learning research in genetics and biotechnology. He designed machine learning models for personalized immuno-oncology therapeutics at Gritstone Oncology and developed methods for statistical genetics research at the Broad Institute. Brendan’s work has been published in high-profile journals, including Nature, Science, Nature Biotechnology, and Nature Genetics.
Professor Engelhardt is one of the foremost researchers at the intersection of statistical learning and computational biology. She has highly cited publications in Nature, Nature Methods, and PNAS and is a frequent speaker at international machine learning conferences including NeurIPS and ICML, with highly cited publications in Nature, Nature methods and PNAS. She is also a frequent speaker at NeurIPS and ICML and other international machine learning conferences.
Please join Freenome's hosts, CSO Dr. Jimmy Lin, and co-founder, Dr. Charles Roberts, from 5pm to 8pm (the fireside chat commences at 5:30pm), followed by a happy hour and informal conversations at Alphabet's Verily campus in South San Francisco.
