Event description
What stories does your body want to tell? Move, dance, sound, draw & write to connect more deeply to your body, creativity, and life.

About this Event

Free Your Body Stories!

This class runs on 8 Sundays from Sept 6-Oct 25, 11am-1230pm Pacific Standard Time. OK to join a week late.

Explore a different area of the body each week through guided and improvisational movement, dance, drawing, sounding, and creative writing. This series is a perfect way to relax the mind, expand range of movement, uncover your life narratives, and get creative. We are all creative beings and making art/beauty out of our life experiences is an inherently meaningful and healing experience. This is a process-oriented class designed to help you gain insight into yourself and the stories your body carries.

We will have time in breakout rooms to share our creative expression and be witnessed with aesthetic responses. This workshop will provide lots of space for intimate connection and sharing.

Some themes we will explore:

--the legs and walking/pulsing/moving through space

--the pelvis and power/shame/sexuality

--the spine and expansion/releasing to gravity

--the heart and love/compassion/joy/peace

--the arms and holding/letting go

--the throat and expression/speaking your truth

--the face and what you reveal/hide

At the end of this 8-week series, you will have a collection of dances, drawings, and writings that you can share with the group and that can be a resource for you to integrate your experience. You will come away with greater awareness, embodied expression, and connection to yourself and others.
