Do you suffer tension in your body from long hours at a desk or held positions? Do you spend most of your working hours sitting in front of the computer?

Are you always thinking of getting another massage because your neck, shoulders or back are always protesting in pain?
Free yourself from aches and pain by learning how to communicate with your body at this Feldenkrais workshop.

This is an introductory workshop to learn more about the Feldenkrais Method and explore your movement patterns in different positions. Our modern lifestyle of long periods of sitting at the computer and using touch screens and mobile phone, often cause us to have tension in our back, neck and shoulders. In this 1-day workshop, you will be participating in 3 Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement (ATM) lessons, watching a demo of a Feldenkrais one-on-one lesson and taking away some helpful hints on how to make yourself more comfortable, hence avoiding ‘computer neck’, ‘Office Syndrome’ and ‘Repetitive Strain Injury’ (RSI).

In this session you will be introduced to how you can work with your neck and back beyond thinking of just where you feel the pain. You will learn how to listen to your body and feel how your spine connects to your shoulders, arms, hips and legs, etc. Learn new ways of moving. Learn to move safely and feel the pleasure in slow relaxed movements.

Moshe Feldenkrais was a martial artist and an engineer who developed a method to teach people how to listen to their bodies and to move more efficiently. “Through awareness, we can learn to move with astonishing lightness and freedom at almost any age.”

The movements very similar to Tai Chi, are mainly slow and gentle. It gives us time to sense, feel, and connect with our thinking brain to find ways that our body can move more easily and freely.

10:40am: ATM* lesson 2 - Rolling Arms

11:45am: FI* Demo
12:30pm: LUNCH
2:00pm: Discussion and take-home exercises
2.30pm: ATM lesson 3- Re-distributing Your Support
3:30pm: Wind Up and Q+A



What to bring:
  • Bring your own mat, or blanket to lie on
  • ​​Wear comfortable clothing, preferably long pants for men.
  • Wear socks (optional).
  • Bring a towel to support under your head
  • A light cardigan in case you feel cold.


About the Trainer:

Linda Hardey has over 27 years’ experience as a Feldenkrais Practitioner, beginning her professional life as a Physiotherapist more than 35 years ago. She has extensive experience teaching Awareness Through Movement Classes and workshops, and consulting in Feldenkrais Functional Integration one-on-one sessions. Linda has also presented to her peers in Feldenkrais conferences and Advanced Training workshops.
