Free Twitter tutorial for musical theatre performers
Sun, April 23, 2017, 11:30 AM – 3:30 PM BST
After our "invaluable" and "highly recommended" inaugural event in February, we've now set the date for our second free workshop to help musical theatre performers get the most out of Twitter and #StageFaves!
“These days, you’re only cast according to how many Twitter followers you have,” an Olivier Award-winning actor recently complained to me. As harsh as that may sound, there is truth in it.
Casting breakdowns won’t say it – and talent, attitude and being right for the role are obviously still the most important criteria (and a good agent helps too!) – but producers who need to get bums on seats for their show will always find a Twittersavvy star with a ready-made, engaged audience more attractive than one without.
Rather than be scared or depressed by this, I encourage actors to embrace it. This is great news! Twitter levels the playing field; unlike family connections, fame, luck or other factors, Twitter is something actors can control. What’s more, it’s a personal marketing tool that’s totally free so within any actor’s budget. All actors need to do is invest time and energy – and get the right knowledge.
On this FREE workshop exclusively for musical theatre performers on StageFaves.com, you'll learn:
- Why and how you should use Twitter
- What you should/shouldn't tweet
- How to organise your account to best effect
- How often to tweet
- Key Twitter jargon
- Ways to increase the number of people likely to see your tweets
- How to grow your number of followers
- How to do all of this when you're always on the move and have limited time
We'll also then look at how your Twitter account allows you to log into your FREE, dedicated page on StageFaves.com and how you can best use the site's complimentary services to get more out of your social media.
StageFaves.com is all about helping performers get more benefit out of the value you create in the theatre industry through social media. We're keen to hear what you think because we want you to be a big part of our development plans so we can do that better.
What you'll need:
- Smartphone (loaded with Twitter app)
- Your Twitter log-in information
