T'ai Chi ch'uan is a famous Chinese exercise, it was originally taught as a martial art and longevity exercise. In the early 20th century the health benefits were discovered and it took on a new persona as a preventive medicine or wellness exercise. Tai Chi is not just for older people, many young people are benefiting from this sport!
In this Tai Chi workshop we are going to learn with Master Wang Renggang. He was born May 7, 1965 in Chao Yan City, Liaoning Province, China. Practicing martial arts since the age of seven in response to being bullied due to family’s extreme poverty and his small, sickly stature. Senior student of Hao Wei Zhi, renowned Grandmaster of Hao-style Tai Chi Mei Hua Tanglang Quan (Plum Blossom Mantis fist). Chosen as the fifth generation lineage holder by Grandmaster Hao when he became terminally ill, being the first person outside of the Hao family to carry on the line. Later studied with Wang Xuan Jie, the very famous Grandmaster who was the senior student of the founder of Dachengquan, Grandmaster Wang Xiang Zhai. Three days before his death, Wang Xuan Jie chose Rengang Wang to become the third generation lineage holder and requested to bring this style to the United States for the first time. Immigrated to the United States in 2000 and was awarded a Green Card as an Alien of Extraordinary Ability. Founded International Dachengdao the following year and travels the world teaching seminars and judging tournaments.
