Event description

This is the monthly Northern and Interior Alaska Solid Waste Training and Teleconference. This is a completely free teleconference with a 800 number for use by all participants. This is a completely free call, and no one is ever required to talk. This is meant to be a relaxed and casual conversation about topics that are relevant to rural Alaska, so that everyone can succeed. We regularly have special guests speak about how they accomplished a specific project in their community, so be sure to check those out if you want to learn first hand everything there is to know about fencing, signage, clean-up projects, or backhauling. This teleconference occurs on the first Wednesday of each month from 1:30pm-2:30pm, November - May.

November's topic has been decided: Operation of Burn Units in Rural Alaska.

December's meeting has been cancelled! Only 2 registrants-probably due to BIA Providers Conf. Talk to everyone next week at the IGAP Workshop!

January: Solid Waste Grant Funding
February: What Should a Rural Landfill Should Look Like: Landfill Designs and the Visual Waste Index
March: Landfill Designs or Your PickApril: You Pick! Tell Me What You Want!
May: You Pick! Tell Me What You Want!

The call-in number is 1-800-315-6338 and the access code is 12174. Thank you!

The Solid Waste Bootcamp will be available again in Springof 2019. This training will be a crash course into Solid Waste Management. The topics that will be provided are:
Solid Waste 101, Landfill Designs, Landfill Operation in a Nutshell, How to Close a Landfill, Special Waste Management (Construction and Demolition wastes, medical wastes, animal and human waste, and polluted soil), plus an overview of ordinances, fees, and infrastructure that has made solid waste management successful accross rural Alaska.

To download the Bootcamp Presentations go here:

This is a forum for all of us working towards improving solid waste management in rural Alaska to meet and share information with each other. The topics are flexible and can be adjusted to accommodate new and pressing issues.

I hope you participate. The teleconference materials will be sent to the email address you provide with this registration.
