Event description

Description

Reviving archival footage that had been lost for decades, this dynamic documentary captures the spirit of the black power movement of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Shot on 16 mm film by Swedish journalists travelling to the United States and interspersed with interviews featuring contemporary black artists, activists, and scholars, the film documents Vietnam War protests, the Black Panther Party, and other landmarks of the era. A.O. Scott, writing for the New York Times, calls it “an extraordinary feat.”

The program will begin promptly at 6 PM on the second floor of the library. Please be advised that seating is first come, first served, so we recommend arriving early!
