Event description

Description

Three pioneering young adults with intellectual disabilities — Micah, Naieer, and Naomie — challenge perceptions of intelligence as they navigate high school, college, and the workforce. Academy Award-winning actor Chris Cooper, the storyteller of the documentary, contextualizes the lives of these central characters at key junctures of the film as he unpacks the sordid track record of intelligence testing in the U.S.
“Intelligent Lives” in our Community—Q&A session following the screening featuring local representatives from organizations that assist with post-secondary transitions, including Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services, ServiceSource, The Arc of Northern Virginia, George Mason University and Fairfax County Public Schools. Brandon Cassady, a graduate of FCPS and Purdue University, will also participate in the discussion.
