Free Screening and Panel Discussion of Just Mercy

About this Event

Tiger Prison Project and Louisiana Parole Project have partnered to host a free screening and panel discussion of the critically acclaimed film Just Mercy on Monday, March 30, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the LSU Student Union Theater.

Just Mercy is a 2020 legal drama, starring Michael B. Jordan, depicting the memoir written by Harvard Law graduate and defense attorney Bryan Stevenson, founder of the Equal Justice Initiative. It tells the emotionally powerful and thought-provoking story of Walter McMillian, sentenced to death in Alabama for a crime he did not commit, exonerated through the counsel of a young Stevenson..

Tiger Prison Project and Louisiana Parole Project are excited to host the following panelists: Demario Davis, justice reform advocate and New Orleans Saints linebacker; Scott Budnick, Just Mercy producer and founder of the Anti-Recidivism Coalition; Kerry Myers, Deputy Director of Louisiana Parole Project and of Represent Justice Campaign Surrogate.

The screening will be preceded by a brief banquet so that students, local organizers, and Baton Rouge government actors can convene over free food and beverages. All parts of the event are free and open to the public. We encourage attendance from all interested parties!
