Free Postpartum Support Group: Baptist Medical Center Jacksonville
Jacksonville, United States
INTRODUCTION: DON'T THROW THE BABY OUT WITH THE BATHWATER!!
Are you feeling overwhelmed during pregnancy or following the birth of your baby? You are NOT ALONE! According to Postpartum Support International, (PSI) postpartum depression is the #1 complication from childbirth. Research shows that 50% to 70% of newborn mothers and 10% of newborn fathers will experience some type of postpartum mood disorder.
Women's Services at Baptist Health offers a support group for mothers of newborns (biological or adoptive), who are experiencing any type of postpartum mood issue. This may include, but is not limited to sadness, tearfulness, excessive worry, difficulty sleeping, changes in appetite, irritability, lack of bonding, and any other change in mood or behavior. At our group, you will receive support from others with similar experiences. It helps to share and learn from others.
This is an on-going group conducted for one hour twice per month. In addtition to the Jacksonville campus, we offer support groups at Baptist Medical Center Nassau, Destination Maternity and the Health Dept. at Macclenny. Your baby is welcome but we ask that toddlers not attend since we do not have childcare, and we want you to be able to focus on yourself!
Register early as space is limited. You do not have to be a Baptist Health patient. All new moms are welcome to attend our support groups.
One hour group session, biweekly.
Seating is limited. Registration is required.
INSTRUCTOR: The sessions are faciliated by Baptist Health staff who have special training in perinatal mood disorders.
