Event description

Description

The Heart Clinic will offer free ankle brachial index (ABI) screenings to detect peripheral artery disease (PAD) or poor circulation in legs and feet at this year's Winter Texan Expo. People with PAD have a higher risk of coronary disease, heart attack and stroke. It is important to recognize PAD early. If left untreated, especially in diabetics, it can lead to ulcers, gangrene or even limb amputation.

The free ABI screening is non-invasive and takes about ten minutes. Please wear shorts or pants that can be rolled up. No fasting or other preparation is necessary.

Reserve your time slot on either day of the expo in order to avoid lines. Any senior may sign up for the screening and attend the expo, regardless of "Winter Texan" status. Please arrive about five minutes before your scheduled time.

Dates:

Time: 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.
