Is there contact in this class?

Accepted Answer

There is NO HEAD CONTACT in this class. Depending on the topic for the session, there are often opportunities for live drilling that include grappling and controlled striking to the body, but these are *always* optional.  We HIGHLY RECOMMEND wearing a mouth guard for live drills.

Do I need to know anything about MMA?

Accepted Answer

Nope! This is a beginner-friendly program, and no experience is necessary to participate. Practitioners with previous training are encouraged to pay it forward and help out newer buddies to class. So far, the mix has been about 50/50 with newbies and seasoned folks.

What is the dress code?

Accepted Answer

Take a shower and wear deodorant. NO PERFUME. Cover scabs with waterproof bandaids. Remove all jewelry; cover piercings that cannot be removed. TRIM FINGERNAILS AND TOENAILS. Tie back long hair. Wear athletic clothes with no metal on them. Long sleeve rashguard and spats recommended for grappling.

Do I need to have any equipment?

We have limited equipment available for striking sessions. Please bring your own if you have it! I will send an email to registered participants before each session to outline what equipment we'll be using.

What should I bring?

Accepted Answer

A healthy body that does not have symptoms of a skin infection, a respiratory illness, or diarrhea/vomiting. A bottle of water. A fitted mouth guard if you want to do live training. Sandals or shoes that are easy to slide on and off. A positive attitude and a willingness to learn!
