Description

Join us at M2D2 to hear from Neal Kalechofsky and Maria Paikos-Hantzis of Lighthouse Consulting to learn more about SBIR/STTR grants!

SBIR/STTR grants can be an excellent source of non-dilutive seed funding for small businesses with big ideas. But knowing how best to access those funds can be bewildering. Our mission is to help you to target the right sources of funds for your particular development program, craft a grant proposal that will maximize chances for success, and assist you with every aspect of the application process.

Our clients are small businesses, universities and academic spin offs trying to commercialize new ideas in medical imaging, organ/tissue engineering, drug development, control of infectious disease/allergies, robotics, and many other fields.

Like you, we are entrepreneurs and scientists. We have a proven track record of success with the SBIR/STTR process, both in our own ventures and for our clients.

Dr. Neal Kalechofsky received his Ph.D. in Physics from Umass Amherst in 1995. Since that time he has participated in/directed numerous projects ranging in size from small academic research programs up through larger corporate product development efforts. He was a co-founder of a start up in the MR imaging space Millikelvin Technologies (MKT). As CTO of MKT he wrote and received numerous SBIR grants/patents as well as participated in raising money from private equity sources.

“My goal is to maximize our clients’ chance of a successful SBIR/STTR award. This starts by working with the Principal Investigator (PI) to help plan his/her overall grant strategy, all the way through to drafting/revision of the grant itself and on to submission. The idea is the clients’; my role is to help the PI present it in a way that will get the positive attention from reviewers that is critical to obtaining SBIR/STTR funding”

Maria Paikos-Hantzis has an exhaustive knowledge of funding institutions and the complexities of their program offerings. She works with the client to construct the financial portions of the grants. She has a complete fluency with the electronic submission process and can do the entire submission for the client. Maria received a B.S. in Economics from Suffolk University in Boston and has 20 years of research grant administration experience at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard University.
