Description

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an 8-week experiential class that combines meditation techniques, psychoeducation, and gentle movement to improve one’s ability to cope with stress, reduce physical and psychological symptoms, and improve resiliency.

This challenging and life-affirming class is based on the program founded in 1979 by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Highly respected within the medical community, the program supports health enhancement and wellness, with a focus on prevention and learning how to take good care of yourself.

Mindfulness practices work by increasing our moment-to-moment awareness of what is happening in our minds and bodies. With increased awareness often comes more acceptance of and choice in how we respond to the challenges and stressors we each face.

Most people can benefit from MBSR, whether they are experiencing anxiety, depression, a physical illness or wish to deepen a current mindfulness practice.
