Free Indie Lens Pop-Up film screening: 'Newtown'
Date and time
Description
PBS Hawai'i and Hawai'i Women in Filmmaking present this Spring 2017 installment of "Indie Lens Pop-Up," a free series of film screenings that brings people together for community-driven conversations around films from the award-winning PBS series, Independent Lens.
The film screening series continues with Newtown, which chronicles a community grappling with the aftermath of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary shooting, the deadliest mass shooting of school children in American history. On that day, 20 first-graders and six of their educators were killed.
Newtown director and producer Kim A. Snyder is scheduled to join us for this screening. You're invited to stay after the film for a discussion with the filmmaker and fellow audience members.
Light refreshments will be served.
This is a free film screening. Please RSVP here on Eventbrite. Limited seating and parking are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
