Description

Preventing Sudden Cardiac Arrest/Death in College Students!

WHAT: Thousands of young people die annually when their heart unexpectedly stops due to an undetected condition that causes Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA), a leading cause of death under 25 and the #1 killer of student athletes. The Eric Paredes Save A Life Foundation has tried to combat this tragic loss of young lives by screening 23,000 hearts and counting, finding nearly 1 in 100 at risk from an undetected heart abnormality. Volunteers will screen upwards of 1,000 young adults, ages 12-25, on Sunday, November 12th. The event is free, simply register at epsavealife.org/register

The Eric Paredes Save A Life Foundation provides free heart screenings because they are not part of regular physicals or pre-participation sports physicals, even though many heart conditions often have no symptoms or unrecognized warning signs. We find 1-2% at risk at every screening, so each is literally a life-saving event.
