Free Health and Safety - Carbon Monoxide Awareness
Thu, December 1, 2016, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM GMT
Does your organisation provide services in people's homes? Do your front line staff and volunteers know how to recognise and deal with a Carbon Monoxide (CO) incident in the home of a vulnerable person?
Many people know what to do in the event of an immediate life threatening situation, but there are numerous health risks associated with frequent, low level exposure to this odourless, invisible and toxic gas. Knowing the signs and symptoms, and being able to manage the risks, will help organisations support vulnerable people and will ensure employers meet their Duty of Care to staff and volunteers.
The Gas Safe Charity is running a free, interactive workshop to help organisations in London become more aware of the signs and symptoms of CO poisoning and how to deal with different situations. The ‘Think CO’ campaign has already worked with a wide range of charities, public bodies and private care agencies which have now introduced simple CO awareness messages into the training of their staff and volunteers.
Who this is for: This session is aimed at those staff who have responsibility for managing staff and/or volunteers who visit people in their own homes, for training or induction or for Health and Safety matters.
After the briefing session, you will be able to deliver a 15 minute presentation to your front line staff and volunteers using a pack of free materials provided. This includes a script, poster, leaflet and FAQs, as well as the presentation.
You will also have a greater awareness of CO risks and an opportunity to develop an organisational process to deal with a suspected CO incldent.
If you want to learn more, please book on to the free event taking place on the morning on Thursday 1st December 2016, 10.00-1.00 followed by lunch. The closing date is Friday 25th November.
