THINKING OF SELLING YOUR HOME? BEFORE YOU START...
Think about what you know, and what you don't know, when it comes to this huge transaction. There are hundreds of thousands of dollars on the line, take some time to make sure you know what to expect and how to do a better job in getting the best possible result. Starting in January, Quill Realty and the FSBO Law Center will offer free Home Selling Classes at their office in the Georgetown neighborhood of Seattle, on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 6p, beginning January 27, 2016. Reservations appreciated but not required.
LEARN ABOUT THE TRADITIONAL PROCESS AND ALTERNATIVES
Quill will explain in detail how the process of selling your home really works: Who gets paid what, and what everyone gets paid for doing. You'll get a complete understanding of the costs you can expect to incur, from taxes to insurance to broker commissions, along with ideas about how to possibly reduce them, such as by selling it yourself. You'll understand such terms as selling broker, listing broker, escrow agent, and title insurance, and how each plays a role in the sale. You'll learn more about For Sale By Owner - FSBO - and whether it might be a good fit for you.
FIND OUT THE MOST IMPORTANT INITIAL STEPS
We won't just talk about how the real estate industry really works. We'll also go through the complete sale process, including the steps you need to take before you're realistically in a position to sell. We'll cover how to most efficiently prepare the home (since your time and money are, unfortunately, finite), and how to best stage the home given your situation and resources. In addition, we'll talk about the process and what you can expect, from offer, through negotiation of the inspection contingency, to closing.
GET THE PERSPECTIVE OF AN INDUSTRY LEADER
Quill Realty is unique. We're the only real estate firm that isn't on the NWMLS. Our founder and designated broker, Craig Blackmon, has been a practicing real estate attorney for 10 years, plus a real estate broker for the last six. Before withdrawing, Craig was a member of the NWMLS. And since launching his first alternative real estate firm in 2009, Craig has worked tirelessly to build a real estate platform better aligned with modern technology and consumer expectations. In addition, Craig recently rebranded his law practice as the FSBO Law Center, a resource for FSBO sellers and buyers. Craig brings a unique depth and breadth of understanding of the real estate industry to each class.
We hope to see you!

Quill is the first modern real estate firm. It's the only real estate brokerage in Seattle that isn't a member of the NWMLS. This means that we can sell houses without having to offer a commission to a buyer's agent. And that means that our sellers save a ton of money, at least 3% of the final sale price, when compared to any other real estate firm.
The FSBO Law Center is a law firm in Seattle that provides resources to consumers who want to buy or sell a home without using the services of a real estate agent.
