Event description

Description

Brown University recently opened a new state-of-the-art School of Engineering building. This five-story 80,000 square foot facility was designed to achieve USGBC LEED v3.0 Silver certification with a predicted energy savings of 25.1% over the current energy code for new commercial buildings in Rhode Island (based upon 2012 IECC). Some of the energy efficiency measures that were incorporated into the building design to help achieve the estimated savings include:

  • High performance building enclosure with improved thermal envelope and high efficiency glazing
  • Automatic lighting controls
  • Reduced interior lighting power densities
  • Airside heat recovery and economizer
  • VAV and chilled beams for lab & office spaces

Join us for a one-hour tour of the building, followed by a holiday gathering at Flatbreads on 161 Cushing Street with complimentary refreshments offered by Stephen Turner Inc.
