Free EKG Screening Event
Thu, April 20, 2017, 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM CDT
To create awareness about heart disease prevention, CIS is hosting a free electrocardiogram (EKG) screening on Thursday, April 20 from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. in the CIS Lobby at 225 Dunn St. in Houma.
An EKG is a painless test that records the electrical signals of the heart. The screening can detect blockages, the thickness of the heart wall, past heart attacks and more. Screening results will be reviewed onsite, and CIS providers will be providing personal health risk assessments as well as heart-healthy educational presentations. The event will also include various smoking cessation education presentations.
Risk factors of cardiovascular disease include family history of heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure and diabetes, as well as smoking, being overweight or being inactive.
Call CIS at 985-876-0300 to register for the screening.
