Please join the Chester Baroque Orchestra as we present “A Baroque Christmas” at 4:00 p.m., December 3, 2016 at the Church of the Messiah in Chester. We will be performing works by Torelli, Manfredini, and Schiassi, along with traditional holiday carols. While admission to the concert is free, donations are appreciated. Immediately following the concert, there will be a reception.
The twelve member group performs under the leadership of Musical Director Dr. Richard Maximoff, internationally acclaimed violist/violinist and founder of the Grammy-award winning Hampton String Quartet. The baroque era found delight in rich detail; the complex beauty of this style of music remains very appealing today.
The Chester Baroque Orchestra is in its fourth successful season. Our goal is to encourage players of all ages and levels to come together to enhance and hone their craft. Although baroque music sounds simple, it is not. It relies upon the accuracy and beauty of chords and the harmony of the string orchestra playing in unison.
