Join us to craft custom badges inspired by local women's rights campaigner Joyce Butler and 50 years of the fight for equality. Fun for all!
Free Badgemaking Workshop
Drop-In for as long as you'd like between 10 AM - 12PM Suitable for all ages, parent/guardian accompaniment for under 18 required
Join us for a fun workshop where you can create your very own custom badges inspired by 'The National Woman's MP', Joyce Butler (MP for Wood Green, 1955-1979). We'll look at materials from over 50 years of campaigns by local women to win equal rights across the nation. Whether you're a history buff or just love DIY crafts, this is the perfect chance to get creative and learn something new. This half term, come hang out, make badges, and celebrate our local history together!
All materials are provided. Collage using a range of photos and clippings from Bruce Castle Museum & Archive and the Joyce Butler Archive. Tickets are free but booking recommended.
This event is part of the Joyce Butler Project. The project examines the histories of women's lives, rights and work in post-war Britain. Now on at Bruce Castle Museum & Archive (N17 8NU), Wednesday to Sunday, 1 - 5 pm. To learn more about the project, email: butler.project@mansfield.ox.ac.uk
