Event description

Description

Kristin LeVier is a studio artist who transforms wood into organic sculpture inspired by the natural world. She’s an MIT-trained former molecular biologist whose mission as an artist is to create contemporary sculpture at the intersection of art and science. She carves and bends wood into tentacles, leaves and wings that embody an ethereal sense of motion.

Kristin’s work has been exhibited extensively in museums, galleries and curated art fairs across North America. She has received fellowships and awards from NICHE, The Society for Contemporary Craft, The Clark Hulings Fund, the American Association of Woodturners and the Idaho Commission on the Arts. She gave a TEDx talk on the Art of Science in 2019 and was featured in a PBS short film. Her work has been featured in books and magazines such as American Craft and American Woodturner. Kristin lives in Moscow, Idaho, where she is inspired by nature in all its forms, snow and ice, and the beautiful rolling hills that surround her.
